Interactive presentation about the Vikings of Estonia

During the Viking Age, the strong Northmen played a significant role in several epochal events in Europe. The Vikings invaded more or less all places they could approach by their ships and left traces noticeable even today.

“What is the business with the Estonians and the Vikings?” some still may ask. The interactive presentation takes our visitors to the period when the Estonians were probably the wealthiest nation on the Baltic Sea. At least, that is what the archaeological findings from the 11th‑12th century tell us. We shall guide our visitors into the world Estonians know very little about, if anything at all. The presentation shall give answers to the following questions: In what way were the then Estonians active in designing the face of Europe? How did they live and what did they wear? What did others tell about us, especially our neighbours we often crossed swords with? Why did the Danish churches implement the following prayer: “Oh, Almighty, protect us from the Curonians and Estonians”? Visitors can examine and try out armours and weapons.

Presentation is given by the re-enactors of the history from NGO Great Kin of Kalev.

The presentation will be in Estonian, English, or Russian, as agreed.
